Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke has reported a Texas lawmaker to the FBI after he tweeted that his assault rifle “is prepared for you”.

Republican legislator Briscoe Cain’s tweet was deleted by Twitter after the Democrat referred to as it a “demise risk”.

Mr Cain tweeted after Mr O’Rourke referred to as throughout a dwell TV debate on Thursday evening for a ban on semi-automatic rifles.

He acknowledged his plan to confiscate some forms of weapons.

“Hell, sure, we will take your AR-15,” Mr O’Rourke, a former Democratic Texas congressman, mentioned on the talk stage in Houston.

“My AR is prepared for you Robert Francis,” tweeted the 34-year-old Republican, utilizing Mr O’Rourke’s authorized first title. AR stands for Armalite rifle.

Mr O’Rourke responded: “Clearly, you should not personal an AR-15 – and neither ought to anybody else.”

Some Texas lawmakers criticised the tweet, which Twitter took down, saying “it violates our guidelines for threats of violence”.

Mr Cain later hit again on Twitter, calling Mr O’Rourke “a toddler”.

A spokesman for Mr O’Rourke mentioned the Texas state legislator had been reported to the FBI.
