Maria Ressa: ‘Rape and demise threats will not cease me’

Maria Ressa is a veteran journalist from the Philippines – and an outspoken critic of President Duterte.

She’s been arrested twice this yr, accused of ‘cyber libel’, violating safety legal guidelines and company tax evasion.

Ms Ressa – who’s being represented by human rights lawyer Amal Clooney – says the arrests and threats on-line, are makes an attempt by the federal government to silence her.

The Philippines authorities says the rule of legislation has been adopted “each step of the way in which” in her case.
