Luc Van Damme was solely two years outdated when he was taken from his Rwandan mom in 1960 and despatched to begin a brand new life in Belgium.

Through the colonial interval, the Belgian authorities separated mixed-race – or métis – kids from their moms so they may not be used as instruments of revolt.

Due to this, Luc grew up with a bunch household, dropping contact together with his siblings and mom for over 15 years.

It was solely in April 2019 that Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel apologised for the “kidnapping” of métis kids like Luc.
